Advanced Backgammon by Bill Robertie
Volume 1: Positional Play $ 30.00
Volume 2: Technical Play $ 30.00
The second edition of Advanced Backgammon is a complete
revision of the classic work first published in 1984.
The new version now contains over 400 problems in two
volumes. Volume 1 covers positional play and includes
sections on the opening, middle game, blitzes, priming
games, and back games. Volume 2 covers technical play,
including chapters on endgames, races and bearoffs. Both
advanced checker and cube play is covered. Two-time
world champion Bill Robertie has drawn upon years of
research, analysis and experience to update this classic
work for the 90's.
The Backgammon Handbook
by Enno Heyken & Martin Fischer $ 35.00
An excellent new book by two of the best German players.
After an introduction covering the rules, the bulk of the
book discusses positional and tactical concepts and the
proper use of the doubling cube. The last part of the
book analyzes a match between Bill Robertie adn Nack Ballard
from Reno 1987.
Backgammon Master Games
by Chuck Papazian & Bill Kennedy $ 20.00
Backgammon Master Games contains 64 annotated games and
40 problem positions selected from modern matches that
involved world-renowned players such as Paul Magriel,
Oswald Jacoby, Joe Dwek, Jason Lester, and Roger Low.
In each game Papazian discusses key strategic and tactical
concepts as they influence the choice of moves. The
annotations provide the reader with valuable examples of
the backgammon insight that has made Papazian a world-class
player for so many years.
The Doubling Cube, Vol I
by Jeff Ward $ 25.00
The Doubling Cube analyzes the proper use of the doubler
in several classes of positions: the bearoff, the race,
one or two checkers closed out, one man back on the bar.
Ward examines typical positions from each of these
categories in a very thorough manner. The book was
intended to be the first in a three volume set, which never
materialized. Nonetheless, The Doubling Cube stands on its
own as a sound introduction to money cube play.
Backgammon For Profit
by Joe Dwek $ 15.00
First published in 1975, Dwek's classic book is available
again in softcover. An excellent introduction covers Dwek's
philosophy of the game and his general approach to money
play; this is followed by 121 problems divided into 9
sections. Backgammon for Profit is the best book we stock
for the beginning to intermediate player.
